Toucan is here. It’s in flight. Welcome. If you’re reading this, chances are you’re one of the original Toucan users and on your way to becoming one of the first ever fully fledged Toucaneers (i.e. someone who’s set up a donation using Toucan).
Alternatively, you’ve scrolled through the archives to find it. Maybe it’s the year 2022, maybe it’s 2762. Wherever you are, hopefully you’re reading from a future where regular charitable giving is a part of everyone’s day to day lives. A world where people are giving more and feeling better about it.
If, though, we’ve failed in our mission and everything else is actually a lot, LOT worse and you’re reading this from a scorched earth hellscape, then godspeed and good luck. May our new robot overlords take mercy on you.
We’ll assume it’s the first one though. We’re positive people here. So, again, welcome, here’s a little introduction to Toucan as it is now in the Autumn of 2021.
What is it?
Toucan lets you create a portfolio of up to three charities and split a monthly donation between them. Search for something specific or tell us which causes you care about and we’ll show you some charities we think you could help.
Choose from r 20,000 and support them long term or switch each month.
Then track and share your impact, stay in the loop with campaigns and causes close to your heart and start feeling better about doing good.
Who are we?
The Toucan team is a broad church. Scattered around the globe with different skill sets and living situations and accents and hair cuts.
But we’ve come together to focus on a big but simple mission: to make giving fun, flexible and accessible for everyone, everywhere.
How does it work?
It’s pretty simple.
Find your charities in the Discover tab. Set up your first donation. Shout about it and show the world what you stand for.
Basically: Discover. Donate. Share.
How can you help?
At this stage there are three main things you can do to help.
First is to choose your charities, create a portfolio and make a donation.
Second is to spread the word. Tell your friends. Share your impact and your portfolio from the app. We’re building something special here. You can help with that.
And third is to tell us what you think. Assuming you are reading this in Autumn and Winter of 2021, the app is just a baby. Help shape it into a fully functioning adult.
After you’ve been on the app a few times, you’ll be asked for feedback. Tell us what you love, what you don’t. It’s all vital information.
